Quality Control System
Production systems at VALIN are highly automated to allow consistent process flow, and high quality levels, in compliance with most stringent and demanding quality standards. Our experienced production staff is trained not only to follow the process but also to check the product quality at each step, in co-ordination with QC and QA team, which supervises and controls quality in a fully equipped laboratory. VALIN Quality System is certified by DNV for ISO 9001/2015 and BRC - ISSUE 7 - AA GRADE.
Research and Innovation
VALIN’s focus is definitely on Research & Innovation: a qualified R&D Team evaluates market trends, nutritional requirements, customer’s needs; interacts with suppliers for quality and characteristics of the ingredients; organizes pilot plant tests, and industrial trials. VALIN can provide full support in NPD to design the ultimate pellets that will turn into profitable and successful snack products.
It is the result of a multi-task group of people with different skills and backgrounds, and it generally starts from a product concept, or a leading theme which is tested on the pilot plant with regard to recipe, shape, and process. When a pilot test is successful, the next step is scaling up the results on the industrial line to define the final process parameters and start real production. Major achievements were made with regard to Acrylamide control.

Thanks to the high flexibility of our systems, and our organization, we can produce a wide variety of different pellets, based on different recipes and ingredients, with different shapes, and characteristics. From potato, down to protein isolates, wholegrain flours, and inclusions, from die-cut pellets, to 3-D, passing through laminated chips, to granulated pellets. Beyond the large product assortment, in each group of pellets, you can have the low sodium options, down to zero salt; furthermore, VALIN recipes can provide you a clean label: only natural ingredients are utilized in VALIN factory: even colouring and flavouring agents are chosen among the natural ones. Deep frying is the traditional and most popular way of expanding pellet products; however, thanks to new equipment and technology, nowadays it is possible to obtain low fat snacks from pellets which are formulated and processed in such a way to perform well, preserve taste and texture with 50% less fat. At VALIN we are equipped to deliver pre-mixed pellets.
